The following link is a paper produced as an extract of a plant audit and process improvement project we executed for a Mid-Atlantic ready mix producer. The conveyor optimization captured in the paper represents just one asset of the plant that was totally optimized. However, due to the commonality of the conveyor application and pre-existing deficiencies it serves as a great example of the potential savings available to ready mix producers. The main point of the exhibit is that while energy savings should be pursued, updating motors and other alterations fail to maximize cost of operation the asset. Eliminating artificial demand or waste and the resulting increase in productivity will produce lasting savings far greater than energy savings alone.
